EAST AFRICANS CELEBRATE EASTER HOLIDAYS

Worshipers partake of the holy communion during       Rev Canon Karanja delivers the sermon
Easter Sunday service

All over the Unites States, East Africans in the Diaspora celebrated Easter Holidays in different churches. The prayers and season marked the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, two thousand years ago.

In one of such Easter Sunday services, the Rev. Canon John Karanja of the International Christian Community Church in Baltimore, MD, asked Christians everywhere to specially pray for children during the Easter holidays.  He said that as the future of the East African communities in a foreign land, children needed special care and attention.
“These children will be taking over important positions in this country, and therefore, we should pray for them all the time,” Rev. Karanja said. International Christian Community Church is frequented by many Kenyans.  The church also supports the less fortunate children in Kenya, through the Emmanuel Children’s Home in the Rift Valley Province, also in Kenya.

Other Easter Holiday services were held in several other churches for Ugandans, Kenyans and Tanzanians.  The East African community is predominant in   Massachusetts, Texas, Georgia, California, and Minnesota, among other states.
